The Level 2 DSLR course
For those who have already attended our Beginners/ Improvers course, or who already have a good understanding of the use of DSLRs and exposure, you are ready to move on to even more creative use of your camera.
This course is designed for DSLR users and we will be shooting in RAW format, for more control and quality.
The key themes to this course are Working the Light and Capturing the Moment. We aim to build your technical skills, increasing your confidence and giving you the opportunity to use your imagination to make stronger images.
You will have the added benefit of several one-to-one sessions for individual coaching
Course content includes
- Working the light: controlling and manipulating colour and quality, using diffused and reflected light
- Capturing the moment (a primer for weddings and informal occasions)
- How to get professional results with friends, family, children and pets
- Tips and techniques that will get the shot (when others have failed!)
- Earning money from your images
- Studio and location lighting workshops, using both natural and artifical light sources
- Single and multiple off camera flashgun techniques
- Practical portraiture workshop (on location and in the studio)
- Painting with light
- Techniques for bringing out the best in your images
- Using telephoto, wide angle, macro and more....
- Managing and adjusting Raw images
- Advanced Photoshop techniques using layers and masks
Equipment Supplied
- 6 x Pentium 4 PCs
- 24" flat screens and 17" high brilliance flat screens, colour calibrated for optimum print output
- multi-input card readers
- Photoshop Elements software
- CD/DVD burner to enable you to return home with your images on CD or DVD
- Dye sublimation printer and A4 printer
Equipment Required
- Digital SLR camera, operating manual, battery charger, spare battery
- A large capacity memory card, preferably two
- A camera bag that you can carry on your shoulder or back
- Tripod
- Flash Gun and extra lenses, if owned
This course is designed for those who already have a good understanding of how to use a digital SLR in manual mode and consistently achieve good exposure. If you are not quite at that stage yet, our Beginners/Improvers course is the ideal way to build up your knowledge and confidence.
