Radical Healing
Rudolph Ballentine
 Paperback - 622 pages ( 4 March, 1999)

This book talks about the world's therapeutic traditions, such as

"Women Confront Cancer
Making Medical History by Choosing Alternative and Complementary Therapies
Margaret J. Wooddell, David J. Hess
I've been reading it during my lunch breaks and it's about the choices women make dealing with their cancer diagnosis.  Most of the cases are breast cancer, and all of the women either chose alternative methods or complementary methods with conventional treatment.  Included at the end of each case is each woman's assessment of the cancer organizations and support groups. It's fascinating. Doreen

"Lick the Sugar Habit," by Nancy
Appleton, Ph.D..  ISBN 0-89529-695-0, Avery Publishing Group, Garden City Park, NY, 1996
She's got 28 pages (small-print) of pretty credible sources  such as Lancet, British Med.Journal, Am.J.Clinical Nutrition, Annals of Allergy, Annals of Internal Med, etc., though a lot of info has come from newspaper articles and other people's books (e.g., "Improving Your Child's Behavior Chemistry," and "Diet, Crime, and Delinquency").  Among the books are Orion Truss's "The Missing Diagnosis," one of the definitive books about candida which
virtually saved my life.   So I think she's got a good book here, and guess what? It's only $5.95. Carole

Herbs Against Cancer : History and Controversy
   by Ralph W. Moss
It is very good.  Well researched, interesting. Whereas I think in the beginning (not the beginning of the book but the beginning of his career), I think Moss had a tendency to go overboard in supporting anything "natural" and go against anything "unnatural" he now seems to have gained his ability to look at both pros and cons of various treatments.  Excellent book. (Rasa Lila)

The Cure for all Cancers

Cancer : Increasing Your Odds for Survival : A Resource Guide for Integrating Mainstream, Alternative and Complementary Therapies
      David Bognar, David Bonar
At first glance, I thought this book was too brief in its coverage. However, having read it,  I think it does a good job of giving an overview of holistic approaches. What I particularly like about it is the extensive lists of resources, including web sites, for each chapter, and the interviews with practitioners. Worthwhile (Belinda)

readable, interesting (Rasa Lila)

Andrea Gabbard
The story of a number of survivors who tackled the highest mountain in North America. Either inspiring (if it encourages you that you can achieve your goals, even if you've just finished chemo) or depressing (because you feel you'll never be half as fit as these ladies). A good story. Belinda

The Breast Cancer Prevention Program

 Samuel Epstein, et al
I think prevention is just about the most important topic now. We have to find ways of reducing the flood of new cases of cancer. We have to be able to help our daughters, sisters, nieces, friends... as well as ourselves
Holding Tight, Letting Go: Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer I don't have metastatic bc, and I stopped reading this part way through as I felt it was keeping me in a place I didn't want to be.
